Baked Blooming Onion

The one thing we all miss is the ability to go out to a local bar or resteraunt, grab a few drinks, an appetizer, and just relax with each other. This recipe for a baked blooming onion, will certainly remind you of going out with your friends, but without derailing your weight loss goals for the new year.

What You'll Need

One large onion

3 eggs

1 cup of breadcrumbs

2 tsp. paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

kosher salt

Step 1

Pre-Heat the oven to 400. Then cut your onion in 16 sections, but be sure not to cut all the way through. Once cut, pull the pieces away from one another to give it that blooming look.

Step 2

In a shallow bowl, wisk your eggs and a tablespoon of water. Then in another bowl combine your bread crumbs and spices.

Step 3

Drudge your onion through the egg mixture, using a spoon to coat. Then drudge your onion through the bread crumbs, using a different spoon to coat.

Step 4

Place the onion on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for 19 minutes or until the onion is golden brown.
